International Journal of Biomedical Imaging
Special Issue on Recent Advances in Deformable Image Registration Call for
Papers

As biomedical imaging is rapidly evolving, novel and more powerful
deformable image processing algorithms are required to meet the challenges
imposed by modern huge biomedical data, particularly in real clinical
settings. This special issue focuses on recent advances towards better
deformable image registration of soft tissues and moving organs such as the
liver, kidneys, lungs and heart. The objective is to promote communications
among researchers and integrate the progresses in the novel deformation
models, computational techniques, and optimization methods from
multidisciplinary researchers in the field of biomedical, engineering,
computer science and mathematical sciences. We are interested in algorithms
applied to all imaging modalities, including x-ray, DSA, CT, MR, nuclear
medicine, optical, ultrasound, macroscopic
, and microscopic imaging. Research progresses and advances that are
relevant to medical image processing and analysis, biomedical imaging
technology and novel physics-based techniques are particularly welcome.

We invite authors to submit original research papers and high-quality review
articles on a wide range of topics on deformable image registration.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Deformable transformation models
• Novel optimization methods for deformable registration
• Physics-based deformable registration
• Finite element method based registration
• Artificial intelligence techniques
• Machine learning techniques
• Methods, techniques, and algorithms for abdominal organs
• Motion pattern analysis
• Motion detection
• Feature extraction, multiscale analysis, pattern recognition
• Multiresolution and wavelets
• Review articles on recent deformable registration methods

Before submission, authors should carefully read over the journal’s Author
Guidelines, which are located at http:///www.hindawi.com/journals/ijbi/guidelines/. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal Manuscript Tracking System at http://mts.hindawi.com/ according to the following timetable:
