I will try to post my IV experience (Neurology and Preliminary Year IM).
Here is the first one.

Medical College of Wisconsin Neurology (Milwaukee, WI)

I interviewed there back in November, it is one of the programs that are
almost exclusively IMGs, mainly for geographical reasons. I think the
current residents are from 17 (or 23?) countries. It was the very 1st IV
that I received (September 12th) and actually was the longest IV process of
the entire season (almost 2 full days). They provided one-night hotel stay.

Day1: PM Dr. Doug Woo’s Introduction to the program; they are 4-year
categorical program. The IM department kind of require IMGs who are out of
medical school for a while to start early for an Observership with them.
They have a pretty good representation of different specialties.
Particularly, there is the opportunity to do Interventional Neuro-Radiology
fellowship for Neurologist. Also, you talk to the chief residents and ask
questions that afternoon. By the end of the afternoon, you get a goodie bag.

Day1: Evening Dinner at a pretty good restaurant downtown Milwaukee. The
residents are from all over the world and I had a good time chatting with
different people. Just try to mingle and talk to as many people as you can
in situations like this. Also, try to be close to one of the chief residents
at the dinner table as they are ones on the selection committee. There will
be other people ask about the call schedule, etc. At dinner table, I
normally ask the residents specifics about the interview process the next
day, why they chose the program, what they think could be improved about the
program, how they think I should express my sincere interest to the PD the
next day; and staff like that.

Day2: Breakfast and then interview process. Basically all the candidates
will talk to 4 different faculty members (everybody talks to PD and Chair).
All the interviews are benign and they asked questions on your CV, why
Neurology, career plan, etc. Some of them may ask some ethical questions but
not in an interrogational way; it depends on the interviewer you get (I was
asked what to do if my patient refuses to take the medication; shall I help
my fellow resident if he/she is swamped). The interview process lasted the
entire day as there were around 10 candidates that day and we just chatted
in the waiting room when there were no interviews (We exchanged interview
experience at other places, I was particularly interested in places that I
was going to visit). There was lunch in the middle of the interview day and
they REALLY feed you well. I mean, it was a feast. Also the faculty and
residents will come in during lunch time and talk to the candidates. It is
another opportunity for them to see if you fit in and for you to see if you
like them.

Overall impression: good program, very nice PD and Chair, friendly faculty
and residents. The thing that impressed me the most is the fabulous food
that they feed us. However, it is really really cold in Milwaukee

crazydoc alohaahola has done a great job describing the MCW program. I'd
like to add a bit more comments. I visited this program in the middle of
December, on the second of day of interview, a snow storm hit the city, wow
---10 inches of snow. The program was super nice, later they announced that
if interviewee could not leave Milwaukee after the interview due to
canceled or delayed flight, they would provide one more night hotel stay.
Anyway, most interviewees chose to leave. it turned out that my flight was
delayed and I was stuck at the airport for 6 hours.

Pre-interview dinner was held in a noisy and crowed bar, I drank two glasses
of miller light and felt very happy. All the residents were nice and eager
to sell their program to the applicants. My impression is that PGY2 year is
busy, but the PGY1 intern year is easy to handle. One intern told me the on-
call schedule for him is Q12. Just incredible! The interviews were laid-
back. I really like this program except the location and snow. all in all,
this is a nice and solid program where you can get well-rounded clinical
training. if you don't mind the long snowy winter of midwest, it is a good
place to go.
