st barnabas, nj is a community hospital affiliated with UMDNJ. PD is a big
shot in rheumatology, have tons of publication, i think was editor in chief
for JAMA, and even invited to write in britanica. he loves art, those post
impressionistic stuff and what not, so people with artsy background, well
good for u.
day starts at 930am. there was 14 of us i think, couple of amg for prelim
and also categorical, rest img. breakfast for all, and 2 interns will be
with u all the time, i mean really all the time from the time u step into
the office till u leave. real cool, try to make u relax and give u tips
about the faculty members, too much information for me actually; i mean
right before the iv, too much info makes me nervous, but again they meant
well. chief started off by giving a presentation of the program. is a great
training ground, min scut, great ancillary, good away elective, very very
high chances of fellowship for img (like 80% or something like that, i could
be wrong, but anyway, they will tell u that on that day) hmm... half way
through the chief presentation, pd popped by to say hello to all candidates,
and u do a round of table self introduction. u r supposed to impress him
during this time, well, that's what he said anyway, so this will be a good
time to spell out ur love for van gogh, frida kahlo etc etc etc...
only one IV, with PD or APD, their profile is on their website, so check it
out if u must. real relax, no medical questions, at least i didn't get them.
after that, tour, then lunch, then afternoon lecture, then adios amigo.
intern told us, if u r interested in prematch, write to them after the iv,
apparently they like that. these r the exact words that intern used.
livingston is a real posh and pretty city, so rental is gonna be painful,
btw they dun provided housing.
lastly, this program is number 21 IM program outta 388 IM programs in the
entire USA, accreditation for 10 years, which is not very often.

beautifulworld explained the program and interview process very well, same
with me, no medical question, very nice decent program, pd is a big plus,
he is an art loving person, i was interviewed by one of the attending over
there, the city is nice but expensive one with the richest people living
there, one thing I would like to add is that.....out of 15 interviewees they
told some of them to stay to meet with pd at the end of day. I think if one
is luky, he is amongst those.
good luk to all
