I finished my second visit at a very good program today. I was shadowing
program faculty in inpatient round. I performed well.

At the end of the day, the program faculty oolitely asked me if I have more questions
about the program, I said yes, because I feel that if I say no, it might
look bad. It was really hard to say "no", even though I wanted to say no...

So I followed him back to his office to talk. Then I instantly realized that
this became another interview.

I got all nervous, because I had thought it was an informal chat. I even
asked some questions which later I regretted that I asked, such as how the
program staff call shifts since they recently lost 2 PGY1 due to certain
reasons. I quickly changed subjects to cover up my mistakes.

But....Nextime I will be much more careful. Life itself is an interview...

Anyway, I left faculty's office with mixed feelings, and walked into
elevator to go back to the main inpatient ward to get my belongings.

At the elevator door, I met the Chair of the program, whom I only saw on the
program website. I quickly gathered myself and said hi to him. I introduced
myself. I talked to him about my interest and I can tell that he liked what
I said. He seems very humble and nice. We had a nice chat on our way back
to in patient floor.

He accompanied me back to the nurse station of inpatient floor to make sure
I did not get lost, and even opened a door for me.

So I guess I lost some points while chatting with faculty, but gained some
points talking to Chair.

I think second visit is risky, because when you spend the whole day with
them, you loosen your defense and think that the program faculty are just
your teachers or friends. I felt that I made a mistake by relaxing too much.
The faculty can easily find out if you make mistakes.

Second visit is a whole-day interview!!!!!!!!!!!

You got it. We offer 2nd visits for those candidates we like. It is not
risky. Think about it, if you perform well for a whole day, you are a best
actor. We do get feedback from the floor about your show on the floor or
lunch.
