Being humble is a great asset. However, it is very often being misread as
lacking of confidence in the American culture.
So you have to show yourself whenever APPROPRIATE. If you are brilliant, pls
show it. There is a famous Chinese saying which I believe to be a potentially
a huge pitfall: 大智若愚。That may not be such a good idea in a different culture. Please don’t act like that and adjust those qualities properly.
On the other hand however, there is a fine line for being confident and being cocky.
Speak up and say it loud when it is your turn.
As a student, DO NOT try to make your intern or your senior resident look bad just because you know something that they have missed.
They will be pissed believe me and therefore you will suffer.
