Wish to share my interview experience but I got so much work to do and just
got time on the weekend......
I am not an experienced interveiwee at all since this is my first interveiw
but still I hope my experience helps...
1. I dont know why I was selected for the interview since I am a kind of 3
\"no\" person - no high scores, no related experiences and no internal
connections. It is really a surprise. But one of the interviewers told me
that I had very good recommendation letters so that might count.
2. I was wondering what was in the interviewers\' folder but none of them
showed the form to me. but I am glad they didn\'t otherwise I would be nervous
thinking about he/she was scoring me. I want to consider the interview to
be a communication not an exam.
3. photo and hobbies - be sure to use a nice photo of yourself and put some
hobbies in your application. One of the interviewers pointed out to me on
site that my photo wasnt as good as myself and I left the hobby blank, which
made myself not authentic. (this is for those who will be applying in next
4. everyone is in conservative dress, as gira mentioned. Do not attract
eyeballs by what your wear and do not act weirdly - that will be the killer.
you want to just be like your peers. Grab the folder which was given by the
program at the beginning of the day with you when you are talking with the
interviewers and dont go to see them with empty hands (this will make
yourself an serious interviewee). Actually I dont even feel comfortable to
speak too much when other interviewees were all quiet (trust me there many
times none wanted to say anything). Maybe I was also tired but that is just
5. English and communication skills are extremely important on the interview
. This and the personality would be the most important factors on the
interveiw day, I think. I also met two BMU alumni that day - their English
are super nice too . When I said super nice, I mean it and I am not exaggerating
- I couldn\'t tell if they are native speakers or not if I just listened to
them. So work hard on that if you want to play the game well even though I am
sure it takes long time.
My 2 cents would be to find a place you are interested in to do obervership
as early as possible and as long as possible. you will learn the system and
know people and most importantly it can give you emnormous chances to practice
your speaking. (this only works for those who
will be applying in the next year)
6. for those who are going to interviews, the really interviews were very
relaxed (at least I feel so) but definitely not random. So be prepared. know
them, know yourself especially know yourself from head to toe. about the
questions asked, I would say they were very typical and the ones on this
board or any other board will served well. I am sure everyone would come up
with their own good answers very well.
All in all, the experience was very pleasant - I was very enjoying with
talking with the faculty, residents and other interviewers and bunch of
other people and the whole process was very informative. However, I doubt I
have a great chance to get in b/c this is a nice progam with a big name and
there are very few IMGs in the program for the past several years. I dont
think that I am that lucky to be the icebreaker. But this is just simply my
own feeling and I dont want to discourage others and I am sure there are
quite many big cows out there who are definitely more competitive than me!
I hope this helps and good luck to all!

的问我“So tell me about myself". 当时我心里一愣，心说我还以为你是要给我介绍
这里住院医的情况呢。 但是去的第一个地方还是颇被人像面试一样问的。 还有BMU不
