Like Hegel, Schopenhauer place importance on the idea of will. Will is the driving force that make things happen for both the natural world and for people.
Schopenhauer's distinction between will and observable reality correspond to Kant's distinction between the phenomenal and noun entail worlds. Will is what actually exist( noumena) but observable reality( phenomena) is what appears to us.
Schopenhauer called Hegel's work " stupid and inept".
