First, I have to say, I maybe a bit straight forward here.
There is no PERFECT family; everyone has his/her story.
Lots of people here did the board exam during their PHD or MS, or while they
are still working fulltime, and have to deal with family things as well,
even with the help from their family.
If you want to be a MD in US, you have to learn to deal with pressure, while
you study for the board, doing the residency, and later practice for the
rest of your career.
there are lots of way to deal with the housework, if you could not take care
of study and housework at the same time, e.g., send kids to daycare, hire a
nanny, get somebody to do the clean work twice a month, buy some fast food,
Take the exam maybe the easiest step during the whole process, (of course,
it is not easy to get a good scores). The most difficult one is getting
into the residency, and survive the residency (especially for the first 6
month), then have to survive your practice, such as dealing with insurance,
other attending/specialist, patient/family, other staffs.
As a mom of three young kids, and an attending, I like my job and career.
And I am so happy that that time I made the decision to do this.
