Hotels near the Falls are rather inexpensive. I stayed in Park Plaza last week
for about 90CND (about 60USD) with two double beds.

I found it hard to find places with reasonable prices in Toronto - we tried a
few places in downtown area (college st, yonge st etc), none of them is
cheaper than 100CND a night for only two person. We ended up staying in a
hostel-type place called "neill-wycik co-op" (
http://www.neill-wycik.com/nwc1.htm ), for only 85CND a night. I even used my
old student ID to get some discount. The condition is not perfect but it's ok
to spend a night or two there.

Last Sept, I got a room at howard johnson at the falls from travelocity,
60 sth/night. it's not right at the fall, but close enough can walk there.
Priceline I bid 60usd/night at Toronto's skydome, very nice, close to the cn
tower.
