I have an idea worth sharing and spreading. I'm thinking about holding a
small-scaled donation event in my local community -- not just for money, but
more important, to ‘educate’ our American neighbors, to give them the
opportunity to show their mercy and generosity, and to improve communication
and relationship between us and our American neighbors.

We know that a lot of our American friends actually know very little about
China. And they might not have the time, the drives or the interests to know
about China. That’s a big issue for the misunderstanding, unpleasant or
sometime even hostile demonstration between the two groups of people with
different cultural backgrounds. Historically, Americans tended to be
isolationists. On the other hand, Americans were also very generous and
moralistic, they like to help the small nations and people in trouble. I pin
my hope on them. Therefore, I think it’s actually a very good chance for
us to communicate and learn from each other since they are more likely to be
moved by such a big tragedy.

The thesis: should be ‘Donation for China Earthquake and Myanmar Cyclone’
or something like that. I think it’s a smart choice to recruit donation for
Myanmar at the same time.

Scale: Personally I hope those of you who agree with me can hold the events
in your neighborhood communities. I think it will be much smoother and more
effective if we can keep low tone and hold small-scaled presentations. 2 or
3 Chinese families are enough to hold this kind of exhibition. Actually, we
will have more American audiences if more families can join us to hold
presentations in your neighborhood, comparing with a big Chinese dominated
party or candle rally.

Style: Remember your neighbors knock your door for invite you donate for
their kid’s school by buying their chocolate? That’s a very good idea. I
will prepare some chocolate for selling at around 2 folds of the original
price. The interest will be sent to Am Red Cross, or Chinese Red Cross. I’m
also thinking about sell balloons.
One choice is to sell candies door by door. Another choice is more like
a Yard Sale, or we can do both. ‘Yard Sale’ style is my favorite cause I
can prepare a board with pictures for exhibition.
Don’t forget to invite your kids to join you. This is a very good
drilling for their political career in the future. We may have an Africa-Am
president soon in this great country. It is possible that we may have a Asia
-Am president in 2028, right?

Board Exhibition: There’s plenty of pictures online now. Please download
and print them in letter-sized papers or 4x6 photoes. And then put them on a
board, write some notes on the side. When the audiences gather around,
bingo, it’s your turn to show the decency of Chinese to our Am friends now.

Time: I will take half day in a weekend. Just like holding a Yard Sale. And
you need ads signs on the roadside. And I think it will be very helpful if
we can hold 2 or 3 times in a series of weekends.

Location: Like a Yard Sale, your front yard or roadside will be fine.

Any contribution of ideas will be cordially appreciated.
