Interview was very easy. Prepared bunch of stuff, nicely filed, but the vo
looked at nothing. Only question she asked verbally, "How are you going to pay
your tuition?" Answer, "My savings, my family."
A couple points for future pursuant:
1. I debated long time should I drive down or should I park and walk across
the boarder. Finally I decided to drive so that my friend could wait for
me in car and get some work done. However, the auto insurance selling place
didn't give us a good map and we immediately got lost after entering Mexico. In
that I had to hire a taxi to guide and it cost $10 (same as just ride it the first place).
I went to the old consulate and was told the address was INCORRECT. Thus,
PLEASE LOOK AT THE REGISTRATION FORM AND USE THE ADDRESS ON IT.
I ended taking another Taxi to get to the right place - the new visa
interview place.
2. No picture was needed. Picture will be taken at the consulate.
3. Forgot to ask if I could obtain the visa earlier. So watched a movie (there
's a very nice mall blocks away - ask about it) and returned at around 2pm.
(I was told to come back at 3pm). Passport was ready to be picked up.
4. As usual, driving through boarder takes LOOONG time, but the line to
change I-94 was not as long as I expected. However, I didn't anticipate to
be CHARGED FOR $6.00 TO CHANGE I-94. I heard some people who didn't bring
cash needed to use ATM or even go back in town to get cash. Hence, remember
to bring some CASH.
Didn't cross boarder until almost 6pm - quite late. Thanks a lot to all and blessings to all!
p.s. Stayed at Travelodge as recommended. Pretty good deal.
